Exeter

A colourful cosmopolitan vibrant University City surrounded by countryside but only a few miles from the seaside. Exeter once a busy port - has its own attractive Quay where you can take a pleasure boat ride and see the old Custom House. History - culture - shopping. Stay by the sea at Exmouth or Dawlish for a traditional seaside family holiday. There are two theatres - beautiful Rougemont Gardens- all the shops you could possibly want and many leisure centres.

Follow the River Exe for a lovely drive up the Exe Valley to superb Knightshayes Court at Tiverton - on the way sit by the river and rest with a drink at the beauty spot of Bickleigh Bridge.
Topsham on the opposite side of the Exe Estuary to Dawlish Warren is not far away from marvellous walks on the open heathland of Woodbury Common.
Exmouth, where The River Exe meets the sea, is an attractive seaside town with promenade and wide sandy beach. On the opposite side of the estuary is Dawlish Warren, both are ideal locations for family holidays.

Dawlish

Seaside town with red sandstone cliffs towering above the beach - attractive floral gardens run right through the middle of town with a small shallow river - home to rare Black Swans.
The main London line train runs along this scenic coast - through many tunnels - stops on Dawlish sea front- easy to abandon the car and visit this enjoyable area by train. Many quality hotels - guesthouses - B&Bs offering excellent service.

Dawlish Warren

Seaside holiday haven - with a wonderful sandy two mile long blue flag beach - sand dunes and coastal nature reserve. Dawlish Warren is perfect for families who want a seaside holiday.

Newton Abbot

A busy little town just off all the main tourism routes- ideal location for a touring holiday. Newton Abbott has easy access to Dartmoor National Park and South Devon Coast resorts.

Teignmouth

Attractive promenade with a blue flag sandy beach known for its mild climate and beautifully kept gardens. Teignmouth, an excellent holiday destination and a busy working port not far from Newton Abbott. Separated from Teignmouth by the River Teign is Shaldon a popular yachting and fishing centre with its own beaches.

Plymouth

Lively town - busy naval and shipping harbour with a cross channel ferry route to Spain and France. Five rivers converge into Plymouth Sound - Tamar- Tavy- Lynther- Plym and Yealm.
It was from the original Plymouth Port of Sutton that the famous old seafarers left to discover the rest of the World - Sir Francis Drake- Captain Cook - In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers left in the Mayflower for the New World – America.

Plymouth is on the main travel routes into Cornwall over the Tamar Bridge - via the Saltash Tunnel or by ferry.

Plymouth is full of sights and has a long maritime history - 400 years of this history is now shown undercover at the Plymouth Dome. Jennycliff Bay where you can enjoy the panoramic views over Plymouth Sound.
