Exmouth

Exmouth is where the River Exe meets the sea. The River Exe has made its way through delightful Devon countryside and the vibrant City of Exeter from its birthplace at Exe Head - an area of Exmoor moorland called The Chains. Exmouth is at the start of East Devon's "Jurassic Coast" - A UNESCO World Heritage site. Exmouth is a very attractive seaside resort and an ideal for family holidays with lots to offer the visitor - two miles of golden sand and fascinating rock pools - keeping both children and adults amused for hours on end. Exmouth Estuary is renowned as a site of special scientific interest and an important habitat for wading and migrating birds - a birdwatchers and naturalists delight.

Budleigh Salterton

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and made famous by P G Woodhouse and Noel Coward - Budleigh Salterton offers you quiet relaxation away from stress - an abundance of inland and coastal public footpaths and a long pebbly beach with a rich wildlife habitat at one end - Ottermouth - where the River Otter meets the sea. The attractions - two excellent golf courses- sports -riding - shops- restaurants and cafes.

Sidmouth

Gateway town to the Jurassic coast - full of old-world charm - Sidmouth prides itself on giving the visitor excellent service - offering a timeless ambience of courtesy and care. Award - winner of many small town floral displays - fine regency buildings - superb gardens - leisurely walks - attractive promenade- spectacular cliff top views - clean pebbly beaches give way to rock pools and golden sand at low tide.

Sidmouth with its elegant Regency architecture has strong literary connections and captivated poet laureate Sir John Betjeman to write “ leisure to live and breath and look - unfold for me this seaside history book.” it was here too poor "Jane Austen" lost her heart to a hansom young man- never to recover - to a handsome young man.

Sidmouth is also home to one of Europe’s biggest music song and dance festivals held annually.

Seaton

Peaceful and relaxing with a sandy mile long beach - cafes - restaurants and good shops.

To visit - Climb aboard the Seaton Tramway - a unique narrow gauge electric tramway- running on a three mile line from Seaton to Colyton via Colyford -a perfect family day out and a bird-watchers delight with fantastic views all along the River Axe.

Beer

Quite delightful - quaint coastal fishing village rambles down the main street with a little stream - passing shop and restaurants on either side until you come to a romantic cove, where fishing boats rest on the beach - surrounded by high white cliffs.

To visit - Beer Caves or spend a day enjoying the lovely gardens and sea views at the excellent attraction of Pecorama.

Branscombe

Branscombe - could be described as the prettiest village in all of England and has a delightful beach where rock pools emerge at low tide.

Honiton

Antique lovers simply adore Honiton - now famous around the world not only for its wonderful lace- but "the" place to visit - look and buy antique furniture. Honiton is the West Country home of numerous antique shops - thirty at the last count.
Honiton also has some excellent walking and lays claim to having one of Devonshire's finest landscape views - from Honiton Hill far reaching views right over the Otter Valley - Dartmoor National Park - you can even see Exmoor National Park.
Stay in a multitude of nearby village’s Cotleigh - Broadclyst - Plymtree - Broadhembury - Payhembury or cross over the main A30 road - Aylesbeare - Newton Poppleford - Gittisham - Sidbury.

Relax in the unspoilt and protected Blackdown Hills - here you can rent a very unusual type of place to stay - a horse drawn caravan in The Otter Valley. In the pleasant town of Ottery St Mary - where you can visit the historic manor house of Cadhay. Take home East Devon’s garden delights at Otter Nurseries.

Axminster

A small ancient market town surrounded by lovely rolling countryside with far reaching views and several attractive villages - Shute - Musbury - Membury - Furley. Axminster has lots of amenities - swimming pool- excellent supermarkets and weekly livestock market. Axminster is perfectly located to explore both coastal and rural delights of South Somerset and West Dorset while you relax in East Devon.

To visit - Axminster Carpet Factory - The National Trusts Shute Bacton and Collingwood Meeting House. Just over the county boundary near Chard in Dorset or Chard in Somerset is Forde Abbey and its glorious Gardens.

There is much to see - do and enjoy in East Devon - before you go along the coast and into Lyme Regis - which starts all of - Dorset's Delights.
